What it is

Dry needling targets the tight, knotted bands of muscle — trigger points — that cause aching, stiffness and referred pain. It is especially effective for sports injuries, overuse strain and stubborn muscular tension that massage alone cannot fully reach.

A fine needle is inserted directly into the trigger point to improve local blood flow and decrease muscle contraction, easing pain and improving movement and function. Sessions are quick, and for deep, persistent tightness it often produces faster results than massage on its own.

Is dry needling the same as acupuncture?

No. They both use fine needles, but acupuncture follows Traditional Chinese Medicine principles, while dry needling is a Western technique that targets muscular trigger points to release tension.

Does dry needling hurt?

You may feel a brief twitch or ache as the trigger point releases — most people describe it as a 'good' kind of discomfort that quickly eases.

How soon will I feel results?

Many people notice improved movement and reduced tension within a day or two, particularly for deep, long-standing tightness.
